    Default new season, same bullshit

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81926

The FIA will now wait until the Bahrain Grand Prix to take up McLaren's invite for another look at its rear wing design, following Red Bull Racing's recent complaints.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said last week that his team was seeking clarification from the FIA about the rear wing concept of the MP4-25 - the design of which he believed was helping to stall it at high-speed and give the car more straight-line speed.

In the wake of the controversy, McLaren offered FIA technical chief Charlie Whiting the chance to give the wing another inspection during a meeting originally set-up to discuss other matters at its Woking factory last week.

That inspection did not take place, however, after Whiting suffered delays to his travel plans while he returned from a trip to South America and therefore had to cancel his visit.

With the FIA having already had correspondence with McLaren about the design of the wing, and not believing there to be a problem. AUTOSPORT has learned that the matter will now wait until the cars are in the garages in Bahrain.

McLaren is far from worried about the matter – which comes on the back of an encouraging final test for the team at Barcelona.

Team principal Martin Whitmarsh told The Daily Telegraph last week: "The wing is different and innovative, yes. But we have been in contact with Charlie over a period of several months to check that it complies with regulations. We have been assured that it does."
the cars aren't even on track yet, and the fucking fia games begin. what a lame ass excuse from whiting for not getting this sorted out when the team asked.

as far as mclaren feeling confident that whiting's word means anything, maybe they forgot about spa in 08.

At least McLaren can build their own wing, have an objection raised, and get it banned. This is at least marginally more entertaining that the assbaggery of NASCAR and the IRL.
One series, but the WRONG series.

Yippeee...politics and controversy on the first day.

F1 season is now officially started!

I have to admit though, I love aero tricks...and it seems McLaren has come up with a biggie.

The driver is in control of the aero bby moving his knee in the cockpit! And you can;t not have the driver move, so the FIA says it is legal...and Renault is pissed and Red Bull will probably protest the whole thing after the race.

A link to some info on this at PlanetF1.

This so beats the shit out of anything the little leeg can offer a race fan.

by time they get back to europe every team will have one, and nascab will still be trying to solve their spoiler issue.

this thing is much cooler than the double diffuser.

What season was it where F1 ddin't have stuff like this going on? Evah?

Sometimes the bullshit politicking and petty arguing is more exciting than the on-track racing.
The Indianapolis 500 is just another race.
    33 is just a number.
    The IRL is officially boring.

Exactly Rex. And as PC said, at least they can build a wing and cause the controversy.

I love it...but I probably didn't convey that message in my post.

I have a feeling the on-track stuff will be exciting this year too. It already sounds like cars full of fuel are giving the drivers a bit of a fit...and tearing up the soft tires within a few laps. The first few races should be all over the place with results.

I see mac's current diffuser has been outlawed after tomorrow's race.
